A study derived from Google searches shows that more people with racist attitudes live in the South, and Northeast regions of the United States, and that there is a high concentration of such individuals in Mid-Michigan.

Let's just start by saying that we think the researchers' methodology is total crap.

Analysts mined data to find out how frequently residents in various parts of the country used the N-Word in Google searches. They felt that the sheer volume of data gave them enough indication to backup their claims of racism.

WNEM spoke with two staff members of the sociology department at U of M Flint, who warn that use of the N-Word in internet searches may not be a clear indicator of attitudes toward race.
