GM Confirms Flint Assembly Worker Positive for Coronavirus
General Motors has now confirmed that a worker at its Flint Assembly plant has tested positive for the COVID-19/coronavirus.
In a statement to media, a spokesman for GM confirmed the case saying the employee has been absent from the truck plant since March 5th. The company learned of the diagnosis late Thursday. GM indicated since it has been 14 days since the employee was last at the plant and it is not necessary for anyone in the plant to self-quarantine.
General Motors also went ahead and shut down production at Flint Assembly Thursday which is a few days earlier than originally announced. Production is slated to be halted until March 30th at this time.
There is no information available currently as to where the employee was tested or where they live. At this time there is no confirmed cases of COVID-19/ coronavirus in Genesee County where Flint Assembly is located.
