Fundraiser for Swartz Creek Woman with Lung Cancer
She's never smoked a day in her life, and they've had to move out of their house because of black mold.
We got a phone call yesterday about a woman from Swartz Creek named Maggie Powers. She's a wife, mother, and sister who was diagnosed with Stage IV lung cancer at the beginning of July. Scans show that she has tumors surrounding her heart.
She is currently on an immunotherapy treatment called Keytruda, which costs $13,000 per month, even after insurance. After an inspection of the Powers' home, black mold and asbestos was found. Maggie and her family have moved into her mother's trailer park until they can have the mold removed.
A GoFundMe has been set up for her medical costs; her supporters, who call themselves Maggie's Warriors, are also holding a spaghetti dinner on Saturday, August 19th. More information is available HERE.
