This is a great time if you're looking for a forever furry friend!

The Genesee County Animal Shelter hopes to adopt out 100 cats and dogs before December 23rd, so they're waiving all adoption fees until then.

The shelter is almost at capacity, which is something that happens almost every year at this time - it's cold and people are bringing the animals in from the outside elements.

They're putting an emphasis on senior dogs and cats, of course, because they're usually the last to be adopted. They're also taking donations - blankets, dog food, cat food are needed.

Don't forget, though - animals don't make good gifts. A lot of animals are returned after the holidays; it's cute for a picture opportunity, but if that's all you want the animal for, DON'T DO IT. They're a long-term commitment.
