The testing site is set up by the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services, and Kroger Health. The MDHSS has also set up a site where you can find other testing locations near you to make it easier to get tested.

There are three great things about the new MCC testing site that opens today.

First is that it is drive-thru and walk up testing. There have been many people unable to get tested in the past because sites were drive-thru only.

Second is that there are no restrictions on testing. You do not need to show symptoms or have any kind of note from a doctor to get tested.

Finally is the simple fact that the testing is FREE! You only need to have a photo ID to get tested.

It's widely accepted that the key to reopening the state is good testing. The more we know about how the virus is spreading among people, the better we can contain it. Free testing sites like this one make it possible for everyone to get tested without jumping through a million hoops to get it done.

Dr. Joneigh Khaldun is the Chief Medical Executive and Chief Deputy Director at the MDHHS, Dr. Khaldun talked about how important testing is.

As we reopen Michigan it is critically important to have robust access to testing around the state to understand where the disease is and prevent spread, we must be responsive to community needs and provide testing where it’s most needed

If you plan on driving up to the testing site today, remember to remain in your car, and have the windows up until a testing official comes to your car.
