“If you need to be me, be sexy!” Flint resident Gertrude Marshall told ABC’s Chris Cuomo as the two began to unravel a Nigerian puppy scam Marshall had fallen for. “But don’t give it all away. Save some for later!” she quipped.

At the center of the scam is Jimmy, Marshall’s online boyfriend. Jimmy was placing ads offering puppies for sale. Customers would send money to Marshall, she’d cash the check and wire the money to Jimmy. He told her it was part of his legitimate electronics business. Smitten, she fell for it.
