We have all exited the highway on Miller road or Center road, only to see someone asking for money at the corner. Flint Township is considering an ordinance that would ban roadside begging.

Flint Township trustees will vote on the ordinance on July 21st. The new rule would ban asking for money on the side of the road, as well as soliciting money within 15 feet of a public toilet facility, automated teller, pay phone or bus or taxi stop. This would also stop solicitation by non profit groups. Violators could be fined through a civil infraction, with the fine not to exceed $500, according to the document.
