Flint MMJ Dispensary Owner Sentenced to 15+ Years in Prison
This whole thing is so confusing, it makes our heads hurt.
47-year-old Lansing resident Danny Trevino, who owns medical marijuana dispensaries in Grand Rapids, Flint and elsewhere, has been sentenced to 15 years and 8 months in federal prison.
He was convicted of 10 felony charges and therefore not allowed to use Michigan's medical marijuana laws. Prosecutors said that he acted "outside the boundaries" of state law. His dispensaries were raided 16 times in six years.
The U.S. District Judge who sentenced him cited that "federal law has not changed."
Trevino and his defense team say that the sentence was racially motivated because he's Hispanic. For even more of the confusing details, click HERE.
