For the First Time Since 2018 Taylor Swift is On Tour and Heading to Detroit
Taylor Swift fans, aka Swifties, started their morning with some big news. Swift is hitting the road for a long-awaited tour and will be making a stop in the Motor City.
Swift announced "The Eras Tour" early Tuesday morning on social media. She took to Twitter to share the news saying,
"I’m enchanted to announce my next tour: Taylor Swift | The Eras Tour, a journey through the musical eras of my career (past & present!) The first leg of the tour will be in stadiums across the US, with international dates to be announced as soon as we can!"
The highly anticipated tour will begin in March and go through the summer concert season for the first leg. International tour dates will follow soon after. The news broke just as Swift was making history as the first in the music business after scoring 10 songs in the Billboard Hot 100's in a single week.
"The Eras Tour," which will hit 20 cities, kicks off on March 18 in Glendale, Arizona, and will wrap up on August 5th out in Los Angeles with a variety of opening acts at each stop.
The demand for this tour is like never before, as Swift has dropped SIX ALBUMS (6!!) since her last tour (if you count 2 re-recorded albums with several unreleased songs included).
When Will Taylor Swift Play Detroit?
Michigan fans will see Swift bring the show to Ford Field on June 9th & 10th with opening acts Girl in Red and Owenn. If you're not sure who Owenn is, you may already know! He has been one of Swift's lead backup dancers for years, including on the Reputation stadium tour. He then played her costar in the music video for 2019's titular track "Lover." Swift has always supported his career in music and even helped negotiate him a contract with her label! Now that he's been signed, she's taking him on tour as her opener in several cities, one of which will be Detroit!
Tickets will go on sale Friday, November 18, with prices ranging from $49 to $449. VIP packages begin at a very reasonable $199, all the way up to $899. It's safe to assume that Ticketmaster resellers will hike the prices well over this, however, as Swift is one of the most famous people in the world right now and she has not toured in five years.
Fans can now register for pre-sale tickets by clicking the link here through November 9th. When you register you will receive a code and will be able to purchase pre-sale tickets starting at 10 a.m. on November 15th. Those who are Capitol One cardholders will have access to their own presale on November 15th starting at 2 p.m.
