Fight Traffic Tickets (And Win!) With a Phone App
You've just gotten a ticket, and don't want your insurance rates to get bonked. There's an app for that.
Off the Record is an iPhone and web app -- with a 97% success rate -- that finds a lawyer who will fight the ticket on your behalf. Here's how it works: Take a picture of your ticket with the app. Your case is assigned to an attorney from your area who's been vetted by the app. Answer a few questions, and pay a fee. Fees range from $59 to $599, based on your location, but the app's maker claims that it's usually more economical than an insurance rate hike.
The Seattle-based app's manufacturer claims that 81% of tickets contested using the app are waived, and 16% get reduced to a non-moving violation.
