Downtown Flint Restaurant Closes After Five Years in Business
There is one less place to get tacos in Genesee County.
El Potrero opened in Flint five years ago at the corner of Court and Saginaw streets. This location was one of five owned by the family. According to El Potrero's Facebook Page "You can find traditional and modern Mexican cuisine on the menu as well as kid friendly options. We also offer home made desserts that are sure to make your mouth water. El Potrero is a taste of Mexico, close to home."
The Downtown Flint location has now closed its doors after five years of business. They posted a sign on their door stating that the lease for the business is up, and you can visit them at one of their other locations.
There are a lot of Mexican restaurants in Genesee County, but El Potrero has been my favorite since I first went to the one on Fenton road. I don't know what makes them extra delicious, I think it is the kind of cheese they use. I had jury duty a couple of years ago, and the El Potrero on Saginaw St is where almost the whole group of us went for lunch. It was right next to the court house, quick, easy, and delicious.
The good news in this story is that the other locations owned by the family are remaining open. You can find those locations here.
More good news is that there are still plenty of amazing food options Downtown Flint. If you haven't ventured Downtown for lunch or dinner in a while, Restaurant Week is coming up soon, and that is a great way to try some new foods.
