Donald Trump Not Running For President in 2012

No surprise here, I kind of thought he would pull out, some of the comments coming his way lately have been rather unkind. I'm sure his polling numbers had a lot to do with his decision as well. But despite the verbal abuse he has taken, his ego still appears to be as strong and as large as ever.

Read Trump's statement and a few other comments after the jump.“I maintain the strong conviction that if I were to run, I would be able to win the primary and ultimately, the general election,” Trump said in a statement, according to ABC News. “I have spent the past several months unofficially campaigning and recognize that running for public office cannot be done half heartedly. Ultimately, however, business is my greatest passion and I am not ready to leave the private sector.

The report adds that Trump, who made headlines recently for questioning President Barack Obama’s citizenship, had set a tentative date for his campaign announcement (May 25).
