The weather may not fully cooperate, but when the calendar says spring it's time for free ice cream at Dairy Queen.

Free Cone Day will be celebrated on Thursday, perfectly coordinating with the first day of spring, which arrives on March 20.

Fun Fact:  Astronomical Spring starts at 5:01 am on Thursday, March 20. Meteorological Spring began on March 1, according to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration or NOAA.

What Does Free Cone Day Mean?

As Dairy Queen has done many times in the past, participating non-mall locations are giving away one small vanilla soft-serve cone without purchase throughout the US, according to Today.

Free cones are limited to one per person while supplies last. And before you ask, the deal is not available for delivery or mobile orders.

Can You Get a Free Dipped Cone?

Beggars can't be choosers! Dairy Queen stipulates that dipped cones are not included in the promotion, but participating locations may be willing to offer a deal: For a $1 donation to the Children's Miracle Network, you may be able to upgrade to a dipped cone.
