The team has started doing their training runs with some four-legged friends.

The cross country team at Ojibwe Charter School in Brimley has been visiting the Chippewa County Animal Control Center in Sault Ste. Marie recently - they've been borrowing some of the fur babies to take them on their runs.

It's even turned some of the kids into "dog" people!

The owner of the shelter says that, at first, she was nervous about having so many dogs go in and out of the facility, but now, she looks forward to it.

This is the second time we've heard about a story like this; hopefully it catches on throughout the state and the country! We'd love to see a local high school do this with a local shelter, no?
