Only three residencies will be awarded between mid-June and late-September. The program itself is made possible by a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts along with other contributions from donors.

The Upper Peninsula island is in Lake Superior and boasts 91 acres of forested land. Rabbit Island is three miles east of Keweenaw Peninsula and is home to amazing wildlife like bald eagles, trout, salmon, and more.

If you are an artist and would like to apply, download the 2021 Residency Application Guide here. After completing the application you can submit it to rabbitisland.submittable.com. The deadline for submitting an application is Sunday, March 14th, 2021 at midnight.
