A total of 18 people found themselves without jobs last week, after participating in a 'Day Without Immigrants' protest.

The employees informed their employer, Bradley Coatings of Nolensville, TN, that they would be taking part in the national protest, Wednesday. The following day, they were informed that they were being let go. Tennessee, like Michigan, is an at-will employment state, meaning employers can terminate employees at will, without cause or reason.

One of the former employees, who chose to remain anonymous, told WTVF he had a statement for his former boss.

"I would tell him he was unfair, after working for them for so many years, giving him our best. They could not understand that it was just one day. We were going to make up that day on a Sunday, but they didn't understand that, and it was not the best way. They didn't give us an opportunity and just told us we were fired."
