Claressa Shields will be adding to her legacy March 5th when she fights in her first Pay Per View event right here in Flint.

Shields is already considered by many to be the greatest woman fighter ever, but she will put any doubts to rest with a win in Flint on March 5th. Shields announced that she will be fighting  Marie-Eve Dicaire for the undisputed super welterweight championship. With a win, Shields would be the first woman to hold unified championships in two different weight classes.

The fight on March 5th is going to be full of firsts. It's the first fight for Shields in her hometown of Flint, and it's her first Pay Per View fight. The fight is also an important night for women everywhere in sports. It's happening on International Women's Day, and is being billed as 'Superwomen'.

There were concerns that Shields wouldn't be returning to the ring this year, well at least not the boxing ring. She has been training for a debut inside the octagon as an MMA fighter over the last two months. She will still be fighting in an MMA bout this year, but we're thrilled she is going to continue her reign as the GWOAT in the boxing ring.

The fight will be a pay per view event shown on FITE TV, but it's still not clear if tickets will be available for fans to watch inside the Dort Financial Event Center.

I know that the pandemic has limited crowds at any event, but I am hoping that we turn a corner by March 5th. This is such an important night for both Claressa and everyone in Flint. Getting the chance to see our hometown hero fight in person is a dream, but even if we can't be there in person, we'll be supporting Shields every way that we can.
