Cedar Point Shares News on the Fate of Top Thrill 2
Cedar Point officials are ready to issue an update on the fate of Top Thrill 2, the much-anticipated coaster that got off to a rough start during the 2024 season.
Cedar Point Shutters Top Thrill 2
Cedar Point abruptly shut down Top Thrill 2 in May of last year, just days after it opened. The Sandusky park cited safety concerns, saying Zamperla (the ride's Italy-based manufacturer) needed to complete mechanical modifications to the ride's vehicles.
Despite anticipation that the ride could eventually reopen before the end of the 2024 season, the ride remained dark - leaving coaster enthusiasts to wonder if it would reopen in 2025.

What's Next for Top Thrill 2?
Thrill seekers will be happy to learn that there is potentially good news in store for Top Thrill 2. Tony Clark handles regional PR for Six Flags, Cedar Point's owner since 2024. In a published report from earlier this week, Clark indicated that Zamperla is working to modify Top Thrill's trains.

Cedar Point staff expects the modified cars to arrive at the park within the next few months. They'll be subjected to extensive testing to ensure guest safety before the ride can be reopened.
At this point, Cedar Point fully expects to have the newly-revamped ride up and running and ready for the park's opening day in 2025.
Additional updates are expected before the season gets underway.
