CBS Tweets That Stephen Colbert Will Replace David Letterman on ‘Late Show’
Well that didn't take long! Just a week after David Letterman announced he'll be retiring in 2015, CBS has used Twitter to announce his successor: Stephen Colbert.
A press release from CBS followed. "Simply being a guest on David Letterman’s show has been a highlight of my career,” said Colbert. “I never dreamed that I would follow in his footsteps, though everyone in late night follows Dave’s lead.”
The exact date for Letterman's exit, as well as the location and other elements of the Colbert-hosted 'Late Show' have not yet been released.
