Chef Robert Irvine said Paliani's had the "worst Italian food I've ever had in my life," when he and his Food Network crew invaded Burton in June for a taping of 'Restaurant:  Impossible' which airs tonight at 9:00 pm.

Has the eatery improved, after $10,000 in improvements? Sounds like they had nowhere to go but up.

"The design issues--whoever designed this restaurant many years ago wasn't very thoughtful about flow, aesthetics, colors, restrooms were an afterthought."

But despite all the criticism, Irvine praised Paliani's owners.

"There's an amazing single mother Mariana -- Marina, I beg your pardon --and her son, Nico, who are probably two of the most deserving people I've ever been in a restaurant for. $600,000 in debt and nowhere to turn. No support," Irvine said. "And we're here to give that support, to put their restaurant back on the map from a food standpoint and from a interior design standpoint, and hopefully give her a better life than she's already got."
