Did the picture make you squeamish? Good. Now, watch out for ticks.

The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services has released their list of counties that are at a high/marginal risk for lyme disease this summer, and while Genesee County still falls into the "potential" risk category, Bay County has been added as "high risk."

Alpena and St. Clair Counties have both been added as well.

Counties in the "red zone" have had at least two confirmed cases of Lyme disease, and there are over 30 counties in the state of Michigan in the red.

Real life talk: our dog has Lyme disease because we didn't think to check for ticks when she was a puppy. Check yourselves, check your kids, check your pets.
