Detroit singer Anita Baker's Grosse Pointe home is up for grabs, but there's a very good chance the $1.8 million mansion needs a little TLC.

Who is Anita Baker?

Anita Baker is a legendary soul singer who became nationally known after the release of her album 'Rapture' in 1986. Hits like 'Sweet Love,' 'Giving You the Best That I Got,' 'No One in the World' and 'Same Ole Love (365 Days a Year)' have earned her eight Grammy Awards, Four American Music Awards, seven Soul Train Music Awards, and BET's Lifetime Achievement Award.

Baker's led a tumultuous life leading up to rise to fame. She was born in Toledo and abandoned by her birth mother when she was two years old. She was then taken in by a foster family in Detroit, but her foster parents died when she was 12. Her foster sister then raised Baker until she was 18.

She began singing in Detroit nightclubs when she was just 16 and joined a band called Chapter 8 shortly thereafter. Baker eventually launched a solo career, recording her first album in 1983.

Today, Baker is divorced and has two grown sons. She continues to tour, performing at Pine Knob this past summer.

Anita Baker's Grosse Pointe Home

Baker's home on Dodge in Grosse Pointe was built in 1987. According to the listing, it's located where the historic Horace Dodge and Rose Terrace mansions once stood. Baker purchased the 7,300 square foot mansion in 1993, but hasn't lived in the home for several years.

It features 120 feet of lake frontage and exquisite views of Lake St. Clair. Baker hasn't been living in the home for the last few years and it's said to be in need of significant repairs.
