Not only did they surprise him, but they brought him to tears.

Tuesday was National Custodial Workers Appreciation Day - definitely a thankless job that often goes unnoticed. But not at Moody Elementary School in Alabama, and not for Mr. Eugene.

A teacher started out the surprise by telling Mr. Eugene, who is a working father of five, that a student had peed their pants in the gym. "Is it real bad?" he asked. He walked into the gymnasium and was greeted by the entire third-grade class.

They presented him with homemade cards and gifts, and he gave them fist bumps all around. Teachers at the school say that he has a "special way of connecting with the students."
