AJ’s 31 Days of Horror Movies: ‘The Ritual’

It's Blair Witch meets The Village.

Maybe I'm biased because I'm an avid hiker and I love the mountains. I love being in nature, away from everybody and everything. So, when I saw the trailer for this, I was all over it.

I could also watch Rafe Spall read the phone book, so there's that.

The Ritual is a 2017 Netflix film (based on a book of the same name) about a group of college friends who escape to the mountains of Scandinavia to honor their late friend. As their weave their way through the trails, they find themselves lost...and being stalked.

I compare it to Blair Witch because of the nature aspect. This isn't a found-footage movie, so no handheld cameras and jerky movements. But if the woods scare you, you'll be scared by this movie.

In case you're wondering, yes - you get to see what's stalking them at the end of the film. If that's what you're looking for, you'll leave satisfied.
