97-Year-Old Davison Woman Receives Her High School Diploma – The Good News [VIDEO]
When presented with the diploma, she said, "Is it alright if I cry?"
I sure hope so, because now I'm crying!
Iris Weatherwax was a student at Davison High School in 1938 when she married her husband Lloyd, and got pregnant. They were married for 30 years, and had a total of four children. However, when she asked to go back to school, they wouldn't allow it.
Her husband Lloyd ended up serving in WWII, and her son James served in the Navy. He said that his parents made sure that ALL of the kids finished high school, so they wanted to do something for Iris.
Iris had told people that not receiving her diploma was one of her biggest regrets in life, so on August 23rd, Davison Community Schools Superintendent Eric Lieske presented her with an honorary diploma.
