As a former Girl Scout who has a special needs son, this made me tear up pretty hard.

Doug Cuthbertson is one of about 100,000 scouts with special needs, and last month, he was given the highest rank possible in the Boy Scouts Organization: Eagle Scout.

Doug is 61-years-old, which makes him decades older than the average Eagle Scout. He lives in an assisted living facility with other special needs adults. His daily activities include church, working at the McDonald's in Clio and scout meetings once a week.

Doug began scouting because it gave him an activity to do every week, and he's one of many scouts in Troops 33 and 117, which both cater to people with special needs.

Congratulations, Doug!
