Genesee County definitely has a lot of great burger spots, but if you're like me you're always down to try a new one out. If (also like me) you've exhausted all the area burger options -- here are some that will make your drive to "The D" well worth it.

I'm a burger guy. I don't always eat burgers, but they're probably my favorite food if I'm being honest with myself. Despite loving a wide variety of different foods, there are few I've found to be as consistently enjoyable as burgers. Honestly, I've rarely had a bad one. It's pretty hard to screw up a burger so they're always at least okay. When a place can really make that burger sing though -- there's nothing better.

Luckily for those of us in Genesee County, there are a lot of closeby options for a killer burger (which we've listed before). It's a list that continues to grow. However, if you want to embark on a new culinary adventure -- look no further than Detroit. It's an option even I forget about most of the time, but it's so close and there are so many great restaurant options. Not to mention the abundance of killer burger joints in the region.

Rather than leave it up to me, we leaned on the fine folks of the internet to recommend an all-star lineup of Detroit Burgers.

10. Taylor Made Burgers - 4844 Seven Mile E, Detroit, MI 48234 - Click for Map

This place does a little of everything and by most accounts, all of it is great. We could only find one picture of a burger on their Instagram account, which is pretty crazy for a place known for burgers that also has "burgers" in their name. I guess they must not need any effort to sell them, which is usually the sign of a superior product.

9. Ford's Garage - 21367 Michigan Ave, Dearborn, MI 48124 - Click for Map

This place has so many pictures of mouthwatering burger goodness online that I just had to pick one at random. It was taking too long to pick which one looked the tastiest -- because they all did.

8. Redcoat Tavern - 31542 Woodward Ave, Royal Oak, MI 48073 - Click for Map

This low key spot tucked away on Woodward Avenue is well-known for its Brasserie Burger (and others, they were all highly recommended, honestly) and has been a local favorite since the 1970s.

7. Little Brothers Burger - 201 W 4th St, Royal Oak, MI 48067 - Click for Map

This compact eatery's sliders, shakes, and pretzel burgers are so popular that they added a food truck to help expand their burger dynasty beyond Royal Oak.

6. Basement Burger Bar -- 1326 Brush St, Detroit, MI 48226 -- Click for Map

I'm usually not a big fan of eating messy burgers, but I'd be more than happy to throw on a poncho Gallagher-style and dive face-first into one of these big ass Basement Burgers.

5. Zo's Good Burger -- 2894 W Grand Blvd, Detroit, MI 48202 -- Click for Map

Maybe it's the 90s kid in me, but when you put "Good Burger" in your name I'm going to assume you are the home of the good burger. Judging by the reviews and pictures coming out of Zo's -- I believe my assumption to be correct. Especially since two of their locations (this one and the Dearborn location) were number 5 and 6 on the list, respectively.

4. Mercury Burger Bar -- 2163 Michigan Ave, Detroit, MI 48216 -- Click for Map

Their burgers look amazing, but they also had pics of lobster poutine and something called a "Fried Green BLT with Avocado" that looked amazing. I'd probably end up getting something else and be mad later because I didn't get the burger, which is clearly what they're known for. I might need to make a few visits to this one.

3. California Burgerz - 12045 Conant St, Hamtramck, MI 48212 - Click for Map

This place serves what is basically my version kryptonite -- burgers stacked high and covered in cheese like these bad boys are literally going to kill me... eventually. Thanks to places like this at least it will be a tasty trip to the big burger joint in the sky.

2. Royale With Cheese --  4163 Cass Ave, Detroit, MI 48201 -- Click for Map

First off -- cool name. Second, I don't know what that is a picture of but I want all of it to get in my belly right now.

1. Taystee's Burgers -- 10419 Ford Rd, Dearborn, MI 48126 -- Click for Map

Like may a great burger place before it, Taystee's comes in an unassuming package. You usually wouldn't expect to find such a great burger in a place attached to a BP gas station, but the people have spoken and this is their champion... and man do those burgers look phenomenal.

Editor's Pick -- Ale Mary's Beer Hall -- 316 S Main St, Royal Oak, MI 48067

I first heard of this place because of their Burritozilla challenge, but as soon as I heard tell of this burger, with fried mac and cheese as the bun -- everything changed. Ever since I first laid eyes upon this crowning achievement in culinary arts, I've counted every day that I've had to live without one. Believe it or not, I had to dig surprisingly deep to find a picture of this burger, which is named the Fat Dan. A repost of a picture was buried in Ale Mary's IG feed 68 weeks ago. It's almost like they don't realize how important something like this is. If my restaurant had a fried mac and cheeseburger, I'd never stop talking about it. Hell, the place would be called "We have a cheeseburger with a friend mac and cheese bun." It's not catchy, but I bet you we'd be busy. Anyway, I have no idea if this burger is good or not, but I'm intrigued by it, the rest of the food looks great, and the place is well-reviewed. I can tell you I will have a full report soon though.
