If you took Kim Kardashian’s word for it, and bought a pair of Skechers to get a curvy backside and great legs, The Federal Trade Commission says that you have a refund coming!

The Federal Trade Commission has determined that Skechers made “unfounded claims that Shape-Ups would help people lose weight, and strengthen and tone their buttocks, legs and abdominal muscles” it said in a press release. The commission has reached an agreement with the shoe maker that will pay an estimated  40 million dollars in refunds to people who purchased shoes after August 1, 2008.

Legendary ‘Queen of Disco’ Donna Summer died today after battling caner. Summer was 63.

Donna Summer was a five-time Grammy-winner, and was arguably the most-successful female singer of the Disco Era.

Summer is survived by her husband, Bruce Sudano, their daughters Brooklyn and Amanda, and Summer’s daugher, Mimi.

The headline is not a misprint! This eight week puppy fell from the sky, literally. Let me explain.

Tom Miller, from KSBW-TV explains that seven year old Taylor Colloway was playing in the yard when he saw a hawk drop the puppy from the sky. That hawk was recognized as on who lived in a tree on the family’s farm. The luck puppy wriggled his way out of the hawk’s talons, and landed not far from where Taylor was playing. Taylor’s mom, Elaine Bouchard says “When God drops a puppy from the sky, you keep it.” Watch the video to see Taylor and T.J. Heavenly the puppy.

Can someone help me out here by telling me what does she have in between her legs? A Bloomberg reporter named Sara Eisen was getting ready to go on live TV, but her cameraman panned to her sooner than she was expecting.

She had her skirt hiked up and it looks like something between her thighs possibly  some sort of exercise equipment maybe?

When it comes to paying your bills, some people would rather try and make a statement, than to do it the easy way. A client in the United Kingdom was upset with his accountant’s fees and decided to express his irritation by paying him in coins.  But, in the end the accountant got the last laugh by filing a lawsuit.

Robert Fitzpatrick dumped five crates of coins on the accountants front lawn. He paid his bill technically, but there was one little problem, it violated a local law stating coins can’t be used for large payments — so the accountant sued.

The accountant sued for the original amount owed, plus another $500 for storage of the crates. He won in court, but didn’t get the storage fees.

Army Chief of Staff, General Raymond Odierno believes that if women are to move to jobs closer to the front lines such as Infantry, that the next logical step is that some will go through Ranger School. About 90 percent of senior Army officers have gone through the school and are qualified as Rangers.

Going to Ranger school, however, does not automatically mean that they would serve in the Army’s three elite Ranger Battalions, which are special operations forces. In fact, many male soldiers who wear the coveted Ranger tab on their uniform, never actually serve in one of the Ranger battalions.

Still, if door of opportunity is opened, someone will find a way through it. If women are allowed to be in the Armed Forces, they should have the chance to do whatever they’re capable of.

Compact Discs have been the dominant music format since the mid-1980′s, but in recent years downloads have dominated music sales. In fact, Apple has been North America’s biggest music retailer for more than three years and they sell only digital downloads.

Most record stores have gone out of business, and it won’t be long before electronics manufacturers will cease to produce CD players.

It appears that most people prefer to listen to music that they can download or stream to an iPod, tablet of laptop. From the record company’s perspective, it’s cheaper to sell digital music because they don’t have to spend anything on shipping, manufacturing or promotion.

So apparently, it’ so long Cd’s. At least we still have RADIO!

Holy Spirit Lutheran Church in Grand Blanc will once again distribute free food to the area’s needy families this Saturday. This is the sixth consecutive year HSLC has offered free food, provided by the Food Bank of Eastern Michigan.

Canned and box goods, as well as a limited number of fresh and frozen food items are to be given away on a first-come, first-served basis.

Last year, Holy Spirit gave away approximately 12,000 pounds of food to about 750 needy individuals each month.  This Saturday’s (May 19th) distribution is scheduled from 9:30 to 11:30 am, or until the food supply is depleted.

Additional food giveaways are planned for June 23, July 21, August 18, September 15 and October 6, rain or shine.

No proof of income or need is required, but recipients must present a driver’s license or photo ID.

“Holy Spirit is glad to provide the assistance to those who are in need. The church sees these food distributions as a natural consequence of our mission to share God’s love,” said Pastor Will Stenke.

Holy Spirit Lutheran Church is located at 7234 Fenton Rd. in Grand Blanc. It’s on the west side of Fenton Road, approximately one quarter mile north of Grand Blanc Road.

Thank you, Governor Snyder. A report issued Monday says Michigan’s low-income, working families will pay more state income tax next year.

Michigan’s reduction of the earned-income tax credit will mean about $244 million more in state income taxes.

Who will be affected?

About 800,000 Michigan families claim the credit, mostly lower-income working families. Is this you?

Last year, lawmakers reduced the credit from 20% of the federal earned-income tax credit to 6%.

The Michigan League for Human Services says the smaller credit “may well put out of business” some businesses that cater to low-income families. Independent grocers, small auto repair shops and secondhand stores in rural communities are most likely to be impacted.

• The high-IQ group Mensa has inducted two 2-year-olds. That makes me feel good. I couldn’t even answer the questions on “Are You Smarter Than a Fifth Grader?” and now this.
• One of the kids was being interviewed on the Today show but had to stop because she said she had to go poop. Don’t worry, kid, Larry King used to have the same problem all the time.
• A researcher says dinosaur gas may have caused an early version of global warming. A spokesman for dinosaurs, however, disputes that claim saying, “Oh yeah, well, maybe he who smelt it, dealt it.”

The end of a long term relationship can be heartbreaking and expensive. A man in New York is finding out firsthand. He is spending a small fortune to get custody of…his dog!

The ‘puppy daddy’, and jilted boyfriend lives in New York. The ‘puppy mama’, and ex-girlfriend lives in California. She has physical custody of Knuckles, a three year old Puggle. The ex-boyfriend has almost depleted his life’s savings, almost $60,000 to get and keep the dog he calls “his son”. I will let the video take it from here.

Facebook is going to file it’s IPO (Initial public offering), believed to be the biggest ever from an internet-based company.Wall Street thinks there is a real future for Facebook, but many people are skeptical that Facebook is really here to stay.

An Associated Press-CNBC poll asked 1,004 adults if Facebook’s appeal would survive the test of time. Forty-six percent answered that Facebook will go the way of MySpace or Friendster, whereas 43 percent said it had staying power.

Those ages 18-to-34 were even more skeptical about the longevity of Facebook.  Fifty-one percent of that demographic expect Facebook to fade away and only 44 percent think it will prove to be more than just a fad. What are your thoughts?

It’s the modern way to bank, ATM machines or banking on-line, but what would it be like to go into a bank that had no tellers?  A few banks are testing out new systems and the possibility of that happening is very real.

Banks are more interested in freeing up time for employeees to sell profitable products like mortgages and to process loans, so some banks are installing touch screens and kiosks for self-service to allow people to cash checks and buy money orders— tasks typically reserved exclusively for tellers.

One of the innovators, Bank of America,  is trying out video teller machines with screens that would give customers access to employees located in a centralized call center who can remotely authorize transactions, review check images and dole out cash.
