Ya Won’t Believe What Michigan Region Has da Sexiest Accent, Eh?
Maybe it's a southern accent that makes you melt. Or is your interest piqued when you hear someone speaking in a Brittish accent? Or how about someone who is clearly from San Francisco?
Forget all that.
It's da Yooper accent that's sexy! The dialect you hear in Michigan's Upper Peninsula was ranked #14 on Big 7 Travel's list of the 50 sexiest accents in the US. And for the record, Troll speak (the accent of those of us in the Lower Peninsula) didn't make the list.
"Yoopernese" is the dialect you’ll hear in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. The accent is heavily influenced by the area’s Scandinavian immigrants, so they say "yah" instead of yeah, "d" for "th" ("dere" for there, "dat" for "that") and "eh" at the end of most sentences.
So what accents out rank da Yoopers'? Take off, Hoser. Here's the top 13:
