  • Money.com crunched the numbers, ranking more than 600 colleges across the country based on several factors:
  • Acceptance rate
  • Full-price tuition for the 2022-2023 school year
  • Tuition with average grants factored in
  • Percentage of students who receive grant money
  • Graduation rate, and
  • Amount of money recent graduates earn when they enter the job market

U of M scored a whopping 89.41, outranking the number two school (the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill) by more than three points.

The Methodology

Money's rankings take factors into account such as affordability, quality of education, and graduates' earnings 10 years after they first begin school.

Although affordability seems like a straightforward metric, Money breaks this down into subcategories like the net price of a degree based on the college's 'sticker price' less grants and scholarships, and the amount of time it takes the typical student to graduate.

Net price paid by students who are in different income brackets and the average amount of debt accrued by students is also factored in.
