U-M Basketball Player Surprised With Scholarship…By Campus Police [VIDEO]
Well, that's a memorable way to do it.
Andrew Dakich is a senior at the University of Michigan, and plays for the Wolverines. He played in 13 games in the 2014-15 season, and 24 in the 2015-2016 season. However, unlike a lot of athletes, his tuition wasn't paid for - he and his family were responsible for shelling out the $60k-per-year for out-of-state tuition.
Speaking of family, his dad is ESPN commentator and former head coach for Bowling Green Dan Dakich. So, it definitely runs in the family.
Two uniformed U-M police officers interrupted a team meeting and Dakich was visibly freaked out...until they tell him why they're really there. The scholarship will cover $30k for his second semester this year. He says on Twitter that he's "beyond grateful."
