Hallmark Holiday! Two Michigan Towns Named Most Magical at Christmas
'Tis the season to gear up for decking the halls and binge-watching all those Christmas movies from the classics to those Hallmark flicks that leave us with major town envy. What if those towns actually existed and were only a short drive away?
There's no doubt that Hollywood is great at sucking us in with those magical holiday towns that have all the qualities that make the season shiny and bright, and spawn a relationship or two with snow falling on cue. If you crave that holiday spirit and think that towns like that are only reserved for the movies, think again.
Country Living took on the whimsical task of putting together a list of the "30 Most Magical Christmas Towns in the U.S." just in time for the season to kick off.
"From fabulous light displays and shoppable Christmas markets full of fun holiday crafts to streets filled with I’ve-gotta-try-this-next-year outdoor Christmas decorations and plenty of unique Yuletide parades, each of these Christmas towns offers its own unique spin on the holiday", Country Living said.
Making the list of those towns that don't skimp on holiday spirit are two from right here in Michigan. One will come as no surprise, but the other could be a holiday hidden gem.
Landing in the top 10 with the #9 spot is the home of the Big House, Ann Arbor. According to Country Living, Ann Arbor checks off all the boxes for holiday cheer.
"There's so much to love about a Christmas in Ann Arbor, from the dozens of holiday events offered (think: free outdoor markets, German food fairs, lantern parades, s'mores roasting, and live music, just to name a few). The annual "Sing Along with Santa" event, presented by the Ann Arbor Symphony Orchestra, is a can't-miss spectacle. It's just what is sounds like: A carol sing-along featuring Santa himself, plus plenty of cookies and cider."
Also on the list, and of course, it should be, at #20 is internationally known and loved Frankenmuth. Michigan's Little Bavaria is that little bit of Christmas 365 days a year thanks to Bronner's CHRISTmas Wonderland.
"Known as Michigan's Little Bavaria, Frankenmuth's European heritage is on full display during the Christmas season. Some of the town's charming holiday highlights include a traditional Christkindlmarkt, a holiday home tour hosted by the Frankenmuth Women's Club, whimsical light displays, and Bronner's Christmas Wonderland, the world's largest Christmas store."
Whether you're seeking a nostalgic Christmas experience or an adventure-filled holiday, these two towns have everything you need to create lifelong memories. If you're hitting the road, check out the rest of 'The 30 Most Magical Christmas Towns in the U.S.' here.
