A marriage proposal from Northern Michigan is going viral - not because she said yes - but because the couple's daughter delightfully stole the spotlight and made the moment that much more delightful.

Viral Marriage Proposal from Ludington, Michigan

The sweet moment happened on a beautiful beach in Northern Michigan. Ludington is a quaint little town on the shore of Lake Michigan, about halfway between Traverse City and Grand Rapids.

Jonathan, Taylor, and their 18-month-old daughter Kendall were enjoying their day at the beach when Jonathan asked their daughter if he could ask Mommy a question. As toddlers do, the little girl said no.

"What do you think, should we change Mommy's last name?"

Again, Kendall pooh-poohed the idea as Dad set her down on the sand.

Little Girl Finds Dad's Phone in the Sand

Wanting to capture the moment, Jonathan had set up his phone in the sand, facing the trio. Together for six years, Jonathan produced an engagement ring and got down on one knee.

For a split second, we're able to see Taylor's excitement as she says yes, and jumps into her boyfriend's arms. But again, as toddlers tend to do, Kendall stole the show. You can hear Mom and Dad Laughing and enjoying the moment in the background as Kendall picks up the phone and gives us a view of the Northern Michigan skyline.

Life is What Happens When You're Busy Making Plans

The couple tells ABC News, "You can spend months planning for the perfect moment, but sometimes the unexpected can make it 10 times better and more memorable."
