Jimmy Buffett sang about a "Cheeseburger in Paradise."  September 18th is National Cheeseburger Day, so paradise is wherever you and your favorite cheeseburger happen to be when you get together.

Cook it on the grill, in the frying pan, broil it, or just get one at your favorite eatery.  For some reason, they seem to taste best at out of the way dives.

It is hard to pinpoint the origin of the cheeseburger, but one culinary legend suggests that it happened in the mid 1920's in Pasadena, California, when a homeless man was dining at a place called Sternberger's.  The man suggested the addition of a slice of cheese to his hamburger order.  Sternberger complied and tried one himself.  The rest is hamburger history.

So celebrate National Cheeseburger Day by enjoying one at your favorite hangout.
