The First Legal Hemp Harvest in Michigan is in Paw Paw
It covers about 30 acres and it almost looks like a giant lot of little Christmas trees.
First of all, let me explain the difference between hemp and marijuana - hemp is a type of marijuana that contains less than .30% THC. It's mainly used for items like food, rope, clothing, paper, housing material, shampoo, etc.
It's called Paw Paw Hemp Company and it covers about 30 acres. The state began issuing licenses to grow hemp back in April, and this farm appears to be the first of its kind in the mitt.
The CFO of the company, David Conner, says that the hemp will be used for all kinds of products and NOT just processed for its CBD components.
