The Dramatic Trailer for ‘Detroit’ Has Been Released — Movie About the Civil Unrest in the Summer of 1967 [VIDEO]
After stepping off the anniversary of the Detroit riots last week, a movie about the civil unrest in the city during the summer of '67 has been released today.
This movie from Kathryn Bigelow, Academy Award winning Director for Hurt Locker and Zero Dark Thirty, looks like a great peek into Michigan history. You'll see from the trailer that tensions were at a boiling point and Detroit was in chaos when a murder took place. It pits one person against each other in a 'who REALLY did it' kind of way.
I know when I was going through school, when we talked about the history of Michigan, this part of our history was glossed over pretty quickly. I am glad that this director is taking the time to create a movie that will stick close to history, and show us kids that were not around during the time, what the mood of the city was. No matter how ugly and vile it gets.
Just from watching the trailer, I have a feeling that Detroit is going to be a great drama to watch and learn from.
