State parks

From the size of a few football fields to a whopping 92 square miles, that's the size difference between Michigan's smallest and largest state parks.

Michigan is home to 104 state parks currently. However there are nearly 40 sites that are no longer state parks - each with a slightly different story of what happened to them.

This Saturday and Sunday, June 8 and 9, it's Michigan's "Three Free" Weekend, where you can fish, ride off-road trails, and visit state parks, all free of charge.

Keeping with the theme of offering the "best of everything", Michigan has again proven how amazing it is. One of Michigan's parks has been named 'Most Beautiful.

Summertime is the best time in Michigan to explore the state.

Campers can still salvage some of the summer as the campgrounds at Michigan state parks are opening soon.

It's all part of a park stewardship program that's planted over 1,000 trees throughout Michigan parks this year.

Under a proposed bill, Michigan residents would get a head-start on reserving campsites at state parks...
