The current order was supposed to expire on May 28th.

Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer has extended the "Stay Home, Stay Safe" executive order until June 12th. Theatres, gyms, and casinos will remain closed.

Her announcement came just one day after she outlined some "relaxing" of the current order that has been in place since March. Social gatherings of 10 people or less are allowed and retail businesses can reopen to customers for shopping by appointment next Tuesday.

This change also allows for non-emergency dental, doctor, and veterinarian appointments to resume next Friday. Before this, garden stores and bicycle shops were allowed to re-open with social distancing guidelines and mask requirements determined by each individual business owner.

As of midnight last night, businesses in Northern Michigan and the Upper Peninsula such as bars and restaurants were allowed to open, also following similar guidelines.

A poll from the Detroit Regional Chamber of Commerce found that approximately 64% of Michiganders approve of the job that the Governor is doing, while 33% do not.

Michigan has been one of the hardest-hit states when it comes to COVID-19, with almost 54,000 cases reported and over 5,000 deaths.

I can't tell you how thrilled I am to hear people complain about this non-stop over the holiday weekend. I'm sure that people will be persuaded one way or the other by the keyboard warriors who think that they know what's best. *sarcasm*

May I suggest taking a break from social media over Memorial Day? We all deserve a couple of days to disconnect and detox from this incredibly stressful situation.
