Check Your Mugs, Michigan: Travel Mugs Recalled Due to Threat of Burn Injuries
If you routinely pour coffee into a travel mug before racing out of the house in the morning, you may want to check your mug for a possible recall.
Stanley is recalling about 2.6 million mugs sold in Michigan and throughout the United States after receiving numerous reports of consumers getting burned. Some of those burn injuries have required medical attention.
The Stanley mugs being recalled have been sold at Amazon, Walmart, Target, Dick's Sporting Goods, and other retailers between June 2016 and December 2024.
What Stanley Mugs Are Being Recalled?
The nationwide recall includes all Stanley Switchback and Trigger Action stainless steel travel mugs. The recall was posted on Thursday (12/12) by the Consumer Safety Product Commission.
The double-walled insulated mugs are sold in numerous colors and come with a polypropylene lid. The Stanley logo - a winged bear with a crown - is on both the front and bottom of the mugs included in the recall.
Consumers Advised to Stop Using Recalled Mugs
The Consumer Safety Product Commission says the company has received more than 90 reports worldwide after lids have come loose while in use. There have been 38 burn injuries, including 16 here in the US.
"Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled travel mugs and contact Stanley to receive a free replacement lid, including shipping," the CSPC said in its statement.
