It was a scary crash, but it could have been a whole lot worse. Remarkably, NASCAR driver Mark Martin walked away from a crash that nearly impaled him Sunday at Michigan International Speedway.

Martin led through 54 laps and was leading on Lap 65 when Bobby Labonte lost control in front of him. Juan Pablo Montoya slowed down, and Martin and Kasey Kahne collided, spinning them both out of control. Martin's car then crashed hard into the inside pit wall, nearly impaling him.

Luckily, no fans or crew members were injured.
