Raccoons Ready to School Michiganders in ‘Know it Before You Throw It’ Spots [VIDEO]
You recycle. (You do, right?) But do you really know the ins and outs of recycling? These raccoons are ready to set you straight.
A new ad campaign called 'Know it Before You Throw It' features raccoons who have studied up on the rules of recycling, and they share their knowledge about what we can and cannon recycle. The campaign is produced by the Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy or EGLE.
The Raccoon Recycling Squad is made up of Nyla P. Lastic, Gladys Glass, Precious Metale, Carlos Cardboard, Paper McKay and Frank. The squad will be focusing on clearing up some of the mysteries of recycling for Michigan residents.
That pizza box, for instance? You can probably tear off the top of it and put it in the recycle bin if it's dry and free from food contamination. But chances are, the bottom of that Little Caesars box has been soaked with grease and should be tossed in the trash.
It's estimated that only 15% of Michigan residents recycle, which is the lowest in the Great Lakes Region and among the lowest in the nation.
