Publix Unnecessarily Censors Non-Profanity From Graduation Cake [VIDEO]
When Jacob Kosinski graduated with an impressive 4.89-grade point average, his parents thought it would be a good idea to have his high honors displayed on his graduation cake. The local Publix grocery store disagreed.
See, Jacob graduated summa cum laude.
You can probably figure out what happened here. (Way to fail, Publix.)
The store's online software flagged the middle word in Jacob's honors as profane. His mother even explained in the special instructions section that summa cum laude is a Latin phrase for high academic honor.
No dice. When Jacob's dad picked up the cake, Publix had substituted " - - - " in place of the word "cum."
The family seems to have a good sense of humor and tells the Washington Post that they'll be able to look back and laugh at the gaffe.
