Some insurance customers in Michigan and across the US may be eligible to take part in a multi-million dollar data breach settlement after sensitive customer data was compromised.

The suit benefits customers whose data - such as social security numbers and financial account information - was viewed by unauthorized individuals. Customers who can provide documented proof of loss will be eligible for larger payouts, while those who did not suffer documented losses may still be eligible to take part in the settlement.

Without admitting any wrongdoing, Progressive has agreed to a $3.25 million settlement.

Who is Eligible for a Settlement From Progressive?

Customers can receive up to $5,000 for documented losses due to the breach. This means proof of loss due to fraudulent charges, identity theft, or credit expenses will be required.

Progressive customers who do not have documented losses can also participate in the suit as well and may be eligible for cash settlement rather than a reimbursement payment.

The amount of the cash payment has not yet been determined and will be based on the number of suit participants and the amount remaining after reimbursement payments are made.

Who is Eligible to File a Claim?

Only customers whose data may have been compromised during the specified dates above are eligible to file a claim. If you do not qualify for a settlement or reimbursement, do not file a claim.

If you are eligible, follow this link to file a claim.
