The United States Postal Service is on a hiring blitz right now to “continue providing critical postal services to the nation."

Southeast Michigan residents (particularly in the Detroit area) are experiencing slower mail delivery because of the global pandemic, and experts say that it will get worse before it gets better.

Detroit, Pontiac, and Allen Park postal facilities are experiencing a high number of sick calls due to COVID-19 and because of employees who are self-isolating.

As of Monday, 386 of the postal service's 630,000 employees have tested positive. Experts say that the risk of contracting coronavirus from mail is low, but possible.
