If you've purchased oyster crackers at a Walmart or Target store here in Michigan, they may be under a recall due to metal contamination.

FDA Issues Class II Recall

The Food and Drug Administration says more than 15,000 cases of the products have been distributed to Walmart, Target, and Giant Eagle. The products could potentially contain pieces of stainless steel wire.

An FDA Class II recall means the product may cause 'temporary' or 'reversible' health consequences.

Here Are the Details of the Products Being Recalled

Shearer's Food, LLC of Massillon, OH manufactures the product and distributes them under different brand names for various stores. The tainted products have been distributed to stores in Michigan and 23 other states.

Target:  Products are sold under the brand name Market Pantry Soup & Oyster Crackers.

Walmart:  Products are sold under the brand name Great Value Soup & Oyster Crackers.

(Giant Eagle stores which are not located in Michigan, market the product as Giant Eagle Oyster Crackers.)

Oyster crackers sold in bulk are sold as Vista Soup and Oyster crackers.
