This doesn't exactly seem like it's in keeping with the spirit of Lent ...

An Ohio man is giving up all food and drinks -- except beer -- during the season of Lent. Del Hall, an employee of the Fifty West Brewing Company in Cincinnati, admits that he's a little nervous about the endeavor but says he has a plan.

"I'm going to have all styles of beer," Hall said. "I am nervous, I'm very nervous about it. I've only fasted for 4 days."

Hall's plan pays homage to 17th-century monks who wold fast on a bock beer diet.

"That would be their liquid bread and that's what they call it so the monks in Bavaria they would call doppelbock liquid bread and basically it would sustain them through 46 days of lent," Hall tells WKRC.

Hall recognizes that the task is daunting and says he plans to monitor his health and check in with a physician periodically.
