It looks like there's no end to he Joe Exotic phenomenon. Actor Nicolas Cage has signed on to play Exotic in an eight-episode Tiger King mini-series.

Cage is set portray Joseph Allen Maldonado-Passage, now known as Joe Exotic, in the eight-episode project from CBS Television Studios and Imagine Television. The show will focus on Exotic and be based on the Texas Monthly magazine article “Joe Exotic: A Dark Journey Into the World of a Man Gone Wild” by Leif Reigstad.

For Cage, who is known for his roles on the big screen in films such as National Treasure and Con Air, the role will be the first time Cage will test out the television waters. In all his years of acting he has never taken on a role for television.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, this isn't the only Tiger King inspired project in the works. Kate McKinnon of Saturday Night Live fame is set to executive produce as well as  play Carole Baskin in a show from Universal Content Productions based on Wondery's Joe Exotic podcast. That particular project has been underway since November.

There is currently no word on when either project will debut so all you cool cats and kittens will just have to sit tight and wait.

According to Nielsen, viewers in the U.S. have spent several billion minutes watching Tiger King.
