National Weather Service Winter Forecast For Michigan 2022-2023
As the warmer temps move out of Michigan the colder weather has people wondering just what kind of winter is in store for Michigan. Now we have the extended outlook from the National Weather Service.
What is the winter forecast for Michigan in 2022-2023?
The recently released forecast info comes from the National Weather Service's Climate Prediction Center and the NOAA (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration) and calls for a snowy winter across the state.
Will winter be warm in Michigan for 2022-2023?
According to the forecast, all of the lower peninsula and some of the UP are essentially a 'toss-up' as far as winter temperatures go with equal chances of temps above or below average. For reference Michigan here are Michigan's average winter temps measured by WeatherSpark:
Will Michigan get more or less snow than normal during Winter 2022-2023?
The NWS forecast for precipitation shows that you might need to make sure those shovels and snowblowers are ready to go as all of the lower peninsula has a higher chance of precipitation than normal. The U.P. outlook calls for equal chances of more or less precipitation.
But the one big variable it looks like we'll be dealing with is our temperatures, depending on how that goes, we could go from a beautiful winter wonderland to a slushy Michigan mess.
So basically, it looks like a relatively normal winter is in store for most of the state, but it is Michigan, so stay tuned as things can change by the minute.
