Students attending Michigan and Michigan State this fall will be required to get the COVID vaccine.

In recent press releases from both Michigan State University and the University of Michigan, the schools have announced that all students and staff must have the COVID-19 before returning to campus facilities.

Michigan State University Details:

  • All students, faculty, and staff are required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 with an FDA-authorized or WHO-approved vaccine by August 31st. Limited expectations will be made for medical or religious reasons.
  • All individuals are required to wear masks indoors starting August 1st in all campus buildings and other MSU facilities in East Lansing and throughout the state. This requirement will state in place for at least the first few weeks of the fall semester.

University of Michigan Details:

  • All students, faculty, and staff on all three campuses of the University of Michigan are required to get the COVID-19 vaccine. Their vaccination information (full or partial) must be submitted no later than August 30th.
  • The exemption process for all U-M campuses and Michigan Medicine is currently being developed and will be available on August 4th.
