Michigan’s First Mooyah Burgers Finally Opening in Flint Township
It’s been almost two years since the popular restaurant chain Mooyah announced plans to bring its first Michigan location right here to Flint. Finally, the wait is over, and locals are ready to get a taste of those famous smashburgers.
Long-Awaited Opening in Flint Township
The new Mooyah is one of three businesses moving into the brand-new building at Linden and Miller Roads in Flint Township. A new Marathon gas station and a Coffee Beanery will be Mooyah’s eventual neighbors.

Even though the project broke ground early in 2024, it sat in limbo for months due to construction delays. On top of that the Marathon station, along with several others in Genesee County, faced additional holdups waiting on licensing approvals from the state and federal government.
Meet the Man Behind Michigan’s Mooyah Expansion
But those headaches are finally behind Mooyah. General Manager Walid Bounenni says they’re licensed and ready to roll out their signature burgers, fries, and shakes to Mid-Michigan. Following a private soft opening for friends and family on Sunday, the restaurant officially opens to the public Monday, November 17, 2025.
Mooyah Expands Its Reach to Michigan
This Flint Township Mooyah, located at 4481 Bristol Road, marks a big milestone for the chain. It’s the first in Michigan and also the first ever to be housed inside a gas station convenience store. Bounenni, who immigrated to the U.S. from Tunisia in 1999, already owns a business that supplies gas stations and convenience stores, as well as a martial arts studio in the Genesee Valley Center mall. He plans to open four more Mooyah locations across the state in the near future.
What to Expect on the Menu
Mooyah’s menu features Certified Angus Beef smashburgers, hand-cut fries, and milkshakes made with real ice cream. The buns are baked fresh in-house and topped with crisp, freshly cut vegetables.

Mooyah President Doug Willmarth said the company is thrilled to be expanding into Michigan, adding:
Our franchise system will only become better with Walid in it, and we look forward to introducing Flint to the newest way to Mooyah.
